Awkwafina
Awkwafina was initially an American rapper and singer, performing sly tunes that dealt with questions of race and sexuality with a humorous twist. In the years before she stepped into Hollywood the singer was able to make a few songs. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants from Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came through the instrument of trumpet. Jazz, classical and hip-hop studies began when she was just a teenager. After concentrating on education, she earned the degree of journalist in university and also a women's study specialization. Her focus shifted to music only after she graduated. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also featured hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. The final track was linked directly to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. In addition to having published a book as well, she also worked as a performer. Alongside early shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors and Storks. In 2018, she scored breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
